It will be catered by Honey (http://www.HoneyNorthside.com). It will provide one of Cincinnati's most creatively-driven areas with a new gallery space ...to pair nicely with Praire.

Details of the blogs future will come soon, so for now please enjoy our press release and website: http://www.TheNorthsideHouse.net.

We hope to see you at the Grand Opening ...or a closing coffee-reception.

On Saturday, July, 17th, 2010, an additional gallery space will be opening in the artistic and culinary district of Northside. The newly renovated, contemporary art gallery, aptly named The Northside House, is located within the walls of a historic shotgun-house -- built in 1880 -- and is set to showcase exhibitions of fine art created by local, national and international talent.

Through months of calculated planning and construction, the owner and operators of The Northside House have created a two-level space designed to showcase refreshing selections of artwork and unique objects to the public. The gallery is set within one of Cincinnati's most creatively driven neighborhoods, and is pleased to provide an exceptional community with another venue to appreciate the arts, in hopes of becoming a Cincinnati mainstay.

The grand opening, taking place on the 17th of July (2010), will feature a number of master-level paintings in oil, acrylic, and collage, as well as drawings and mix media installations (Inauguration). The exhibition space also opens to a number of uncommon, sculptural items from West Africa (Life).

The artists of Inauguration -- Steve Amos (Chicago, IL), Jon Payne (Dayton, OH), Ellington Robinson (Washington, DC), and Alice Pixely Young (Cincinnati, OH) -- represent an impressive diversity of ideas and skill-sets. Including layered graphical renderings, grid based organic studies of value and color, urban-influenced pieces, and research-based installations and drawings, the work represented in Inauguration is linked by its tendency towards abstracted subject matter and thought provoking usage of color. The show is mainly comprised of medium to large-scale paintings. In exception, Cincinnati artist Alice Pixley Young offers a new body of drawings and wall-hanging installations.

Life, on the other hand, is an exhibition of fine, West African ceremonial and everyday use objects created by carvers of The Dogon Tribe, The Lobi Tribe, and other tribes of West Africa. Small to medium scale works will be featured in the show as The Northside House attempts to expose its patrons to fresh, artistic visual concepts, highlighting influences of unique cultures. Often overlooked details, such as the intent of the carvers, should be appreciated. And the recognition of these features in traditional ceremonial pieces is paramount.

The Northside House kicks off its first exhibition season with Inauguration and Life opening simultaneously. Inauguration will run through August 23rd, after hosting a closing reception on Sunday, the 22nd. Life will run through September 13th, hosting its closing reception on Sunday, the 12th. Exhibitions will be staggered for the remainder of the season, with different opening and closing dates. The gallery will be open weekly, Thursday through Monday, to provide additional convenience to its patrons.

I hope to see you there!
Jonathan
