<< Looking back...and now forward >>

.

For those of you who are new to the blogging of reCollect Creative (picking up where Woodman Studios of Silver Spring left off), welcome. Pictures in the above photo gallery are from Laced: The Art Show. This was the most recent event curated by yours truly, Jonathan Sears, in conjunction with the SolSource Group of Washington, DC. This was the first show I managed solely -- including selecting the art, hanging & lighting the show, as well as constructing runway ramps & platforms for the models -- and essentially the jump-off point for what is now reCollect Creative.

On the fashion end, Dana Ayanna (of Artistic Aya) and L'Rai Arthur-Mensah (of The Essence of Style), did it big as well. They created all of the fashions and the success of the event wouldn't have been at all possible without them. You girls rock! Thanks again.

All in all, I met a lot of great artists and regular ol' folks from the area and hope to continue creating events like this for our creative community. Most who attended considered the event to be a smashing success, and I humbly thank everyone for making it out. Between the art show and the after-party, it was the the most successful event I've been involved with, as we helped over 700 folks (I could barely believe it myself) have a great time!

So feel free to click through the images and see what this "thang" is all about. Hopefully we'll have more events like this one coming soon. Until then, I'll be in and around as many art scenes as possible and sharing my thoughts here. Hopefully others won't hesitate to chime in as well!

And again, special thanks go out to Ty and Brian of the Wisconsin Overlook (located in Georgetown) for letting us host the event at their primo-location, as well as Brandon Felton of SolSource for bringing me into the fold.

Till we meet again,
-Jonathan
